Nicola Becci
Nicola studied at Glasgow School of Art for five years, and now works mainly in silver, brass and 9ct gold. The pieces are etched and then oxidised. She sees her work as an exploration of decoration using many sources of inspiration; primarily the rich symbolism of the Catholic Church, the trappings of royalty, playing cards and chess, calligraphy, and the language of symbolism. Food and confectionary have been the source for some of her most recent pieces. Nicola is also fascinated by secrets and hidden compartments that allow the wearer to decide how much he or she reveals. Nicola exhibits regularly at various places around the country and has sold to Dame Judi Dench, Amanda Burton, Isla Blair and Julian Glover.
