Art's 1,000,050th BirthdayGlynn Vivian Art Gallery Offsite Project

Swansea’s sixth annual contribution to international celebrations playfully marking Art’s 1,000,050th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the Art’s Birthday idea, dreamt up in 1963 by artist/poet Robert Filliou. On show: the entries for the cake design lucky dip, twelve of which, selected at random and baked by Celebrations Cakes, Uplands, will be unveiled, collectively eaten and washed down with tea. There will be music, artist talks, films, and party games! Special guests include: Joachim Pfeufer, co-architect, with Filliou, of the PoiPoidrome (also 50 this year) and artist Hannah Downey. Galleries Elysium, Mission and supersaurus will also be making special contributions to the event. Not to be missed!

1pm Hannah Downing, Glynn Vivian’s Artist in Residence, will be speaking
about her processes of making art.

2pm Joachim Pfeufer guides us around the PoÏPoÏdrome.

4pm Cake and party games, including Mission: Pass the Parcel.
With musical entertainment from Barrie Hole’s Party Magic.

5pm JackPlug introduces the film Beautiful Losers (15)

7pm Elysium presents The Mysterium Games Party at The Cove, 36 Castle
Street from 7pm till late. Games, performances, music and things that
look gold. The accompanying exhibition, all that glitters is not.... will run
at The Cove until Saturday 9 February.
