What’s real and what isn’t – and what falls somewhere in between?
Lauren’s work maps the grey areas between reality and fantasy, playing with ideas around memory, myth, costume, social contracts, apocalyptic visions and psychological conditions.
Figments of our collective imagination – bureaucracy, capitalism, patriarchy – have very real impacts on our physical environment and lived experience. Her work explores the tension between these abstracted constructs and the phenomenological truths of the natural world and human connection. Lauren’s use of materials treads a parallel line between the physical and digital, often experimenting with media and techniques that appear tactile even when created and viewed only through the screen.
