Inger Richenbergthe [...] space

16 April - 28 April 2013

Inger is a Norwegian lens based artist, currently studying photographic art at Swansea Metropolitan University. Inger’s practice is based around questions related to identity, cultural belonging and the interactive relationship between past and present. Using self-portraiture as a tool, she aims to learn about herself and her family background through photography.

In 2010, Inger moved fromNorway to Walest o study at Swansea Metropolitan University. Until then, she had viewed her own culture from an insider’s point of view, which made her take it for granted. In meeting with a new culture, questions related to her identity in terms of nationality, culture, family and family history became a lot more important. The distance from the familiar in fact took her back to Norway, trying to answer questions she never knew she would be asking.
