Too often people are confined to these rules. As a creative, we strive to not only break but reform them. These designs were created by myself in an exploratory manner as they break away from my furniture design comfort zone. After researching into brutalism (a stark style of functionalist architecture, especially of the 1950s and 1960s, characterised by the use of steel and concrete in massive blocks.) I created these graphics which were put together using only rectangles in pursuit of replicating the style of brutalism but reflecting back in a much more minimal, playful way. I designed these in pursuit of changing perceptions, enabling you to look at this movement in a different light. Many of my pieces disobey normalities and are driven by narratives. Not only does this bring depth to my projects, but it gives it a purpose. Brutalism has a harsh cubist aesthetic and I wanted to create a contradiction between movement and outcome. Brutalist Soft Furnishings, an oxymoronic spin on a post war architecture.
