Mhairi TreharneThe Maker

11 June - 17 July 2021

Mhairi’s work is small in scale, often the size of a postcard, depicting landscapes and characters from her past. The small paintings are prepared to hang via harness-like frames created by stitching and weaving the panels with wire. Every painting has two complete sides, front and back, allowing the freedom to explore and view them as you wish. The two faces contain two elements of the same subject. The back of the work is often a secret only known to Mhairi and the owner of the work. Her interest lies in the fine line between craft and art and her aim is to create objects that are completely unique and precious.

A Canadian artist, Mhairi was born to a Scottish mother and Welsh father in Toronto. Her studio is based in Cheltenham.
