Arts in HealthMaker in Focus

15 June - 13 July 2019

ABMU Health Board uses Art to create environments that enhances the wellbeing of patients. There is evidence which shows that visual art contributes positively to the way people feel about their care in hospitals and improves recovery times and health outcomes for patients.

ABMU Health Board has provided two Raising the Bar students with a brief to create artwork for the newly opened Jill Rowe Neurology Ambulatory Unit. The students were given a one day experience at the hospital, where they met staff and patients. They were able to listen, ask questions and gather information that will inform their final outcome.

This outcome will be exhibited in the Maker In Focus during the Raising the Bar exhibition, and the Storytelling for Health International Conference (June 27th-29th) after which the pieces will be given to the Jill Rowe Unit to be displayed on their walls.
