Anna Lewis is a contemporary jewellery designer based inSouthWales. Previously her work explored ideas of memory, of story telling and fantasy. She has worked in a range of mediums such as printed feathers, leather and wood combined with silver and stones.
Her creativity has translated across disciplines from installation to art direction and production design for fashion photography and music videos for the collaborative Project ‘Seven Everything’. Having just completed and MA Anna’s work is now exploring a much darker aesthetic with uncanny undertones interpreted through fashion objects and photography. The new collection is an exploration into darkness, a deadly aesthetic that fuses beauty and death, fashion and the uncanny, animal and human.
The collection is inspired by the discovery of that which is beyond language, how there is magic and beauty to be found in death. How we are drawn in and repelled, fascinated and fearful all the same time. The notion of veiling and distancing from the horrible through beauty and photography is central to the work, of decorating death or death as decoration.
