For two weeks in March 2004 Mission Gallery offered a unique opportunity to schools in the area by giving the whole of the gallery’s exhibition space over to Primary School Drawing Workshops led by artist and art educationalist Nigel Meager.  The half day sessions will be divided into two parts.

Part 1: Henry Moore and Body Sculpture

During this workshop children will climb inside elasticated body stockings to recreate their own living versions of Henry Moore sculptures.   They will take digital photographs and make graphic drawings using chalk on black paper.

Part 2: Group Portraits

After studying reproductions of well known paintings that include groups of people in dramatic situations, the children will recreate their own life-size versions inside a huge frame built especially by Mission Gallery.  Children will record the event digitally and before the workshop ends will have a chance to see their images projected on an even larger scale.
