Eventbrite - Clay Animal Faces | Children's workshop

Llwy /Spoon

Inspired by the work of showcased artist Chris Bird-Jones, students will explore the diffusion of light through a glass representation of a spoon. Students will consider the symbolic and personal significance of ‘a spoon’ as an image and artefact and develop these findings through drawing and glass artwork, using pate-de-verre and bonding techniques.

To give you an idea of the individual sessions please find a breakdown below

Saturday 21st November

Working with clay and plaster, students will produce an original plaster mould to build their glass design into.

Saturday 28th November

Using crushed glass suspended in a medium, student will build the bowl of the spoon, ready for firing in a kiln. They will consider the size of glass frit and transparency and opacity.

Saturday 5th December

Students will decorate glass rods into handles for their spoon bowls and glue them into position.
