Free Workshop , All ages welcome (Children must be accompanied by adults)
Please note the boat pictured in the image is our smaller boat, the main boat will be approx 1.5 metres plenty for you to decorate. Join us in having fun parading the boat around the marina before we set it to display at the National Waterfront Museum.

Join us in making and decorating our boat ‘The Flying Angel’
Mission Gallery is based in Swansea’s Maritime Quarter and we are proud of our rich history.
Long before it supported artists and welcomed those who enjoy creativity ,the building was formally known as St. Nicholas’ Church (The patron saint of sailors). It was a place dedicated to meeting the spiritual needs of all visiting seafarers. To celebrate this unique heritage, we need your help ! We want you to create the perfect vessel for the upcoming Sea Festival!
Our vessel will be named ‘The Flying Angel’ in honour of our building’s former use as a Seamen’s Mission and how the gallery has evolved and flourished over the years. Together, we will decorate the boat before parading it through the festival before it docks at our neighbours the National Waterfront Museum to display.
We will be working in line with our current project Precious Thing’s which is to reimagine how waste materials can be used in creative practices. Transforming what is otherwise disregarded and transforming it into a precious part of the creative process.

Due to our venue’s capacity, spaces are limited. If you book onto one of our workshops we would ask you to honour your commitment to attend.
We aim for our workshops to be as accessible as possible, but would ask that you make a donation on the day if you can. Please consider contributing if you are able to support the future workshop and education programmes at Mission Gallery.

Materials are provided, limited places, booking is essential. Please inform us of any access requirements, allergies or medical conditions.
Access is by one-step entry from pavement level through our main entrance.
The workshops will take place in the gallery and education space located on the first floor of the gallery.
Due to building limitations access to the first floor education space is via steep stairs.
Staff are on hand to provide assistance if needed.
