About the Award
Created as a memorial to Mission Gallery’s first director, it became possible through the kind and generous artwork donations of many artists; at all levels of their career. These artworks were auctioned as part of an Arts Auction at Swansea College of Art, UWTSD with the funds raised going towards the Jane Phillips Award.
Since its inception in 2011, the Jane Phillips Award has supported 88 emerging and early career artists; with exhibition, showcase or residency opportunities. A number of these opportunities were further strengthened by partnerships with Swansea College of Art UWTSD, elysium gallery, Carmarthen School of Art and Gower College.
Previous artists have included Ryan L. Moule, Helen Dennis, Thibault Brunet, Harry Gammer-Flitcroft amongst many others.
The Jane Phillips Award comes to an end with ‘Heaven in the Ground’ by DARCH (Radha Patel and Umulkhayr Mohamed). Its showcase at Mission Gallery is kindly supported by the Jane Phillips Award.
