Her project ‘Malurion’ (Welsh for ‘fragments’) draws on the tradition of carved ‘lovespoons’ with audiences encouraged to create their own ‘lovespoon’ as a way of rediscovering and kindling a tradition.

Weixin Liu

Was born in China and has lived in Swansea for many years. She is passionate about promoting Chinese culture more widely and meaningfully within the community.

Weixin has worked as a community artist for several years, using her creative skills to engage and inspire others. She is dedicated to sharing her skills and knowledge, and takes great joy in empowering others through creative expression.

Lisa Burkl

Lisa Burkl (b. 1967, Llanelli) is a mixed media artist specialising in glass. She currently works from Ynysmeudwy in the Swansea Valley as an artist, visiting lecturer, and community art facilitator.

Since qualifying in Architectural Glass in 1991, Lisa has designed and fabricated commissions, exhibited at venues including the ‘National Waterfront Museum’, Swansea and ‘The Ffwrnes’, Llanelli, and led workshops across schools, universities, galleries, and community spaces. A qualified teacher with a BA in Architectural Glass and a PGCE from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, she has collaborated widely on participatory art projects, often working with charities to support wellbeing through creativity.
