My work revolves around objects. Ceramics are a huge influence, having grown up surrounded my mother selling antiques. Through work I aim to investigate, dissect and translate these objects.
With continuous line drawing I’m able to disconnect from the object itself. By working in a variety of media, ranging from drawing, painting, paintwork, textiles, paperwork and ceramics, work is taken beyond what is seen to explore it further.
Embedded within the work is my secret language, inspired by binary code and the repetitive grids found in textiles. Through this coded language I expose elements of myself, my confessions, things I cannot bring myself to admit outside of the code.
Part of my work is the creation of ornate ceramic jugs - these I develop in an unconventional way, using the clay as paper to create two dimensional 3d forms.
