Artist bio:

Declan Stuart (artist name D’Captured) after being homeless in 2022, found a love for pyrography/ wood burning with the help of Crisis. This medium, introduces a process of destruction in order to make something beautiful. D’Captured believes the art form has a mindfulness quality, which he uses as a tool to focus and enjoy the simple creation of lines. D'Captured now guides workshops in exploring pyrography, and uses it to help others with their wellbeing and creativity. D’Captured also creates beautiful custom and commissioned artwork.

Outline:

During this workshop, you’ll be able to create and burn your design on wood with the help of an array of stencils and a little guidance from the instructor- or explore the possibilities and get creative in free hand!

You are very welcome to bring your own design, as there are multiple ways to transfer an original design onto the wood in the session. However this is not essential. Once the design has been transferred, the burning can begin.

You'll have a 30cm circle piece to work with and a 2nd piece of your choosing out of the varying sizes/shapes provided. Each member will be using a dual burning pen, prepped with 2 different tips that allows the user to create a range of lines. However experimentation is encouraged, and there are a variety of different tips and tricks to explore in order to get a wide range of details. Towards the end of the session you will choose whether to seal your pieces or continue with them at a later date.

This workshop is designed to be open to people of all artistic levels. Expert tuition will be provided by the artist, in order to help you come away with a unique artwork that you are truly proud of.
