Adult Craft Club Part 2:

Saturday 18th July

11am-12:30pm

Batik

In this workshop we will be using cold wax and cold dyes to build up a design on cotton fabrics. Using brushes you will mask off resist areas on your fabric with a wonderful design, then you will build up your piece by painting on fabric dyes. Once finished the wax is removed to reveal beautiful layers of texture and colour.

These workshops are part of the project ‘Our voice through making, Ein llais trwy creu’ which is kindly funded by the Ashley Family Foundation with in kind support from Mission Gallery. With a strong outreach focus these workshops  aim to connect the local community with two young female artists in Wales, Bonnie Grace and Safiyyah Altaf.

Saturday 25th July

11am-12:30pm

Indigo Dyeing

Indigo dyeing is a rich and historical natural dye. In this workshop we will explore creating a dye vat together as a group for indigo dye. You will have the opportunity to dye pieces of cotton fabric and explore the process in a beginner friendly environment.

These workshops aim to be fun and exploratory rather than a full technical breakdown of the processes involved. Space is limited, booking required. Sessions last for one and a half hours and will take place on a Saturday.
