Bio: Lowri Davies
Having practised as a ceramic artist since 2001, I predominantly create illustrative bone china tableware from my studio in Fireworks, Cardiff.
I’m always interested in continuing to attempt to further my creative application of my materials by experimenting with hand-building in porcelain, applying new printing techniques, pushing the boundaries of the translucency of bone china and porcelain through the medium of Lithophanes, developing my understanding of pattern and colour, without forgetting my first love of working with ink and watercolour.
Outline
During this workshop, you and your family will be working in our exhibition space amongst our current Merched ar Lestri show, with personal tuition by our exhibiting artist Lowri Davies. Your family will experiment with decorating glazed white plates and tiles with an array of patterned and colour decals, creating a collage effect. The tiles will then be fired and returned to the gallery to collect. The decorating materials can be referred to as ceramic decals or ceramic transfers.
