Lyrical One: Poetry & Songwriting Forum With Guest Speaker Lisbee Stainton

The Lyrical One project will begin with an opening forum where guest speaker Lisbee Stainton (www.lisbeestainton.com) will talk of her own personal experience as a singer-songwriter. The forum day will allow people to explore themes and topics found in the works of Dylan Thomas in a talk delivered by poet Richard Jones and an overview of the project by musician Joe Bayliss.
The forum day will be followed by three consecutive individual, themed, poetry and songwriting workshops for young adults (on the 11th, 18th and 25th October). Together with experienced assistance, the students will work to create a varied body of both musical and poetic works.
Lyrical One will culminate with a performance on the 1st November showcasing the work created by students within the Lyrical One workshops together with Lisbee Stainton and other singer-songwriters and poets.
The project will be recorded, with both audio and visual recordings to be archived online.
This year marks the centenary of Swansea’s prodigal son, Dylan Thomas’, birth. ‘Lyrical One’ is a collaborative project organised by Mission Gallery and Snug Projects which will take place throughout October 2014. It will comprise of a number of workshop and forum-based gatherings of both students, amateur and professional poets and musicians.
