'bad company may need positive advertising….'Neale Howells

12 January - 23 February 2008

Neale Howells had his first solo painting show at Mission Gallery in 1997. He recently received a Creative Wales Award from the Arts Council of Wales and has since been working with new media. Comprising elements of film, painting and animation, it was Neale Howells intention to present art worthy of an international stage; this show was an attempt to bring creativity and originality back to art and it should be viewed by anyone and everyone.

The exhibition used a  variety of imagery including film, animation, photography, painting and light; featuring what Neale labelled ‘a hybrid of film and painting'. Having recently used film by introducing animation into his painting, his next step was to construct the movement by using photographic emulsions on top of the painting, creating work which is new and different.

Howells hopes that the show contained, "...a realism to living in the 21st century... if we could reconsider what art is, then that can only be a good thing; imagination is often a word never used in art these days... hopefully this show will put it back".
