Mission Gallery is pleased to present A Collection of Drawings, this exhibition continues the series of group exhibitions featuring recent work by artists based or working in Swansea.

The exhibition highlights the work of thirteen Swansea based practitioners who work in the medium of drawing. This diverse selection of artists at varying stages of their careers, results in an exciting and eclectic mixture of established and emerging artists who encompass many different approaches, all of whom consider drawing as an integral part of their practice.

Mission Gallery presented the question ‘What does drawing mean to you?' to the exhibiting artists and for many of them, contemporary drawing is part of a process of research, thinking, observing and writing. It is often a starting point in conceiving visual work, as well as an opportunity to highlight a wider discourse, to create a dialogue with an important issue. These works on paper have much in common; ideas, narrative, discovery, communication, mark making and a concern with the quality of line and colour. The possibilities and explorations of sketchbook work, and developments for future projects.
