May of Making: Spring Craft Club
At the Mission Gallery we love all things arts and crafts so much that we want to dedicate the month of may to making art ! harnessing all the joy of the upcoming spring to uplift our spirits and get creative. We are also taking part in the Beach of Dreams festival initiative to celebrate the beauty , heritage, and landscape of our coastal location during these nature based workshops by making sketchbooks that can be used to document your coastal walks and using materials found at the beach to create cyanotype prints.o if you enjoy paper mache, loom weaving, cyanotypes and painting take part in our May of Making Spring Craft Club. Every Saturday of the month of May you can join up with club members and make some art to be proud of.

Craft Club Workshops are as follows:
Saturday 3rd May 2025: Paper Mache and Sketchbook Making:
To kick start our May of making we will be getting hands on by creating some decorative paper mache creations, We will also be creating some wonderful sketchbooks for you to bring along to each session and document your journey.
Saturday 17th May : Mini Looms and botanical collages
We will be investigating all things texture and colour and shape in this workshop, grabbing and weaving interesting materials to create our own nature and textile loom. Craft a perfect homage to nature through a funky botanical collage.
Saturday 24th May : Live painting and Cyanotypes of spring flowers
It's that time of year where colourful sprigs of flowers start to make their long awaited appearance, to celebrate the welcoming of nature in these sunnier days we will be experimenting with cyanotypes to capture nature prints as well as harnessing our inner artists by painting flowers from a still life set up.
Friday 30th May : Painting and decorating paper mache
In this workshop we will be revisiting those wonderful paper mache creations that you made in the first session. Choosing fun materials and bright colours we can decorate the paper mache and bring your ideas to life.
Saturday 31st May: Dream catchers
Ever had the most fantastical and amazing dream that you wish you could capture ? To celebrate the end of our craft club we will be using all of our inspiration to colourfully customise your unique dreamcatcher with different beads, strings and feathers. Craft together a meaningful project so you can rest assured that wonderful dreams of creativity can be enhanced when you take your beautiful dreamcatcher home .
Purchasing a ticket will ensure that you have reserved a space on each of the 5 upcoming workshops. Upon Purchasing a ticket we will get in touch to provide you with a sign up form to be completed for the Craft Club.

Due to our venue’s capacity, spaces are limited. If you book onto our workshops we would ask you to honour your commitment to attend.
We aim for our workshops to be as accessible as possible, but would ask that you make a donation on the day if you can. Please consider contributing if you are able to support the future workshop and education programmes at Mission Gallery.

Access is by one-step entry from pavement level through our main entrance.
The workshops will take place in the gallery and education space located on the first floor of the gallery.
Due to building limitations access to the first floor education space is via steep stairs.
Staff are on hand to provide assistance if needed.
