Scale of movements is a specially created video work for Mission Gallery celebrating urban movements. Pigeons pecking, store signs tapping, cars hurtling, bins rattling, clothes flapping, leaves rustling: cities are in a state of perpetual motion. Inside our homes we mirror these movements: swirling teaspoons, crunching teeth, padding footsteps. Even in the dead of night nothing is still, a plastic bag rustles and an eyelid flickers. Through an extensive collected archive of motion within our cities, Gressel has choreographed the mundane, often overlooked everyday movements, inviting the viewer to reflect on their urban landscape.

Isabelle Gressel is a French/ Austrian artist based in the UK. Her work focuses on creating playful video, sound and installation pieces based on individualised and collective rhythms in urban landscapes.

Darn fideo wedi ei greu’n benodol ar gyfer Oriel Mission yw Scale of Movements yn dathlu symudiadau dinesig. Adar yn picio, tapio arwyddion siopau, ceir yn gwibio, dillad yn fflapio, dail yn siffrwd: dinasoedd mewn ysgogiad parhaol. Rydym ni’n adlewyrchu’r symudiadau hyn yn ein cartrefi: troelli llwyau te, dannedd yn crensian, camau yn padio. Hyd yn oed ynghanol nos does dim yn llonydd, siffrwd bag plastig a fflicran llygad. Trwy archif casgliad helaeth o symud o fewn ein dinasoedd, mae Gressel wedi coreograffi’r dibwys, y symudiadau bob dydd anghofus, gan wahodd y gwyliwr i adlewyrchu ar eu tirlun dinesig.

Artist Ffrengig/Awstraidd yw Isabelle Gressel wedi selio yn y DU. Ffocysau’i gwaith ar greu fideo, sain a darnau sefydledig chwareus wedi eu selio ar rythmau unigol a lluosog y tirlun dinesig.
