Roger MossMaker in Focus

11 June - 28 July 2013

Roger Moss is a sculptor of over 40 years experience, based in Carmarthen, who has worked with the full gamut of traditional and contemporary tools, techniques and materials. He has exhibited throughout Britain, Europe and Australia and has work in many collections, both private and public, including the National Museum Wales, Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and Contemporary Arts Society of Wales.

Over the past few years he has been exploring the cutting edge world of haptic computer programmes combined with rapid prototype building and 3D printing technologies, at the National Centre for Product Design and Research Development (P.D.R.), Cardiff Metropolitan University (U.W.I.C.)

This work illustrates some of the outcomes of that exploration.

Some say that these digital tools are forming the basis for a new industrial revolution in manufacturing, but the appeal for the artist and craftsman is simply that they are exciting tools which offer new ways of thinking and working.

If approached without prejudice, and their intrinsic qualities are embraced, then the possibilities, potential and opportunities of a new aesthetic are on offer for the artist.
