Blaenymaes Primary School, Swansea, is one of many schools who have collaborated with Mission over the years to enable its staff and pupils to experience the arts. They have pursued several funding opportunities to devise additional arts programmes for small targeted groups of pupils. On each occasion the pupils explored their own responses, thoughts, feelings and opinions through a wide variety of creative making processes, from drawing to painting and print, producing visual images which are rich in confidence and quality. They have worked with many exhibitions including Nature Illuminated, Katie Allen and New Paintings, Richard James.
This project allowed the children to look at the work of artist, William Brown and to take their images to a stage where they could be developed into items for retail.
Because of the success of their experiences, the school is working with Mission to pursue an in depth “Maker” oriented project for 2017.
