Oh, I do like to be beside the seasideClaire Morgan

01 April - 20 May 2012

Mission Gallery is delighted to announce two commissioned works to be presented as Wales’ first solo exhibition from the award-winning artist Claire Morgan.

Responding to the location of Mission Gallery and drawn to our relationship with the sea, and more specifically to our presence on its periphery, Claire Morgan will create delicate sculptural installations which include insects and taxidermy, to present the viewer with a moment of suspended time.  The viewer is invited into this immersive environment to discover intricate details of exquisite sculpture.

Claire Morgan graduated from University of Northumbria with BA (Hons) Fine Art (sculpture) in 2003. Given the relative youth of her career Claire Morgan has achieved considerable success with a firmly established profile in the international arts arena; with work collected all over the world.

Intricate sculptures have been exhibited internationally, including solo and group exhibitions in UK and Europe; museum shows in US and Australia. Installations and drawings are in private collections in the UK, Europe and Australia, inc. MONA, Tasmania. Her first solo exhibition in France, ‘Life Blood’ at Galerie Karsten Greve, Paris, received national news coverage with private collectors acquiring most of the works on the opening night.
